The Río Pacuare is not only one of the best rafting rivers in Costa Rica it's on many lists for tops in the world. One of the main reasons is because it flows through a pristine canyon of virgin rain forest mostly inaccessible except by boat. Add the lost city of Guayabo ruins and the southern Caribbean beaches for a memorable Costa Rica Journey.

Day 1 — Hotel Villa Florencia (3 Nights)more photos >>Hotel Villa Florencia (3 Nights)
Welcome to Costa Rica! Your VIP greeter at the international airport will assist you with your luggage and get you on your way to Villa Florencia Hotel, located near the beautiful village of Turrialba.

In an area known as the valley of the gods, surrounded by rivers, mountains, and valleys the villa has awe inspiring views of Turrialba volcano, sculpted gardens and sugarcane plantations.

Day 2 — Guayabo National Monument
Get up early to investigate the Guayabo Ruins, once home to over 10,000 people who mysteriously vanished just before the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century. The petroglyphs, aqueducts, and paved roads disappearing into the lush rainforest give a glimpse of their ancient world at the most significant archaeological site in Costa Rica.

The monument also includes a small visitors center/museum and a well maintained nature trail.

Day 3 — Day of Adventure!
You have your choice of the following activities:

White Water Rafting the Pacuare
We've been on a LOT of rivers in Costa Rica and there is none better than the Río Pacuare - a picture is worth a thousand words so click on the thumbnail to left and see for yourself. Professional guides will navigate you through Class III and IV rapids and some of the most pristine rainforest in the world accessible only from the river. The water is the perfect temperature for swimming or cooling shower in one of the side canyon waterfalls that pour in.

Canopy Zipline Turrialba
Or if you choose the zip-lines, be sure to eat a light breakfast! Today you will go on a high speed, high flying canopy zip-line adventure. On this gravity defying adventure, you will soar through the canopy of the rain forest on various zip-line cables, suspended by wheel and harness across!

Day 4 — Azania Bungalows (3 Nights)more photos >>Azania Bungalows (3 Nights)
Head down out of the mountains to the southern Caribbean coast, Play Cocles and Azania Bungalows. All the private bungalow are constructed of unique mixes of exotic woods and thatched-palm roof that extend over the hammock on the private deck next to tropical gardens. Just a few steps from the Caribbean sea and surrounded by tropical rainforest the spacious and tastefully decorated Azania Bungalows are a perfect place to relax and unwind in paradise.

Day 5 — Snorkeling Tour Caribbean
The Caribbean coast offers some of the best snorkeling in the country. In fact, a few kilometers north of Cocles, Cahuita National Park was created specifically to protect a section of the remarkable reefs offshore. Snorkeling in the warm waters of the Caribbean you'll see angels, butterflies and parrots (the tropical fish varieties), and there is always a chance of encountering sea turtles, rays, moray eels, and even lobsters.

Day 6 — Explore the Caribbean Beaches
Today is yours to explore the beaches of the southern Caribbean. Cocles, Uva, Negra, Chiquita and more golden sand, palm studded one after the other. You can walk for literally miles taking refuge in the occasional beachfront bar or restaurant for a bite or a beverage. Top recommendations for exploration on your own include Cahuita National Park and Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, or just sit back with a cool drink and work on that tropical tan.
