After a beach landing that has to be done at exactly the right gap in the waves, guests are transported straight uphill for a welcome cocktail at a simple but elegant screened bar with a great view of Isla del Caño. The bungalows are set back at the edge of the forest and do not have views. They are private and well designed, with good mattresses and spacious, tiled bathrooms. There are bungalows with two interconnecting suites and a screened porch, good for families. Another attractive open-air bar is cantilevered over the jungle where chances for bird watching abound. There is a spacious recreation room with videos and a library, and a fresh-water pool surrounded by jungle. Casa Corcovado is known for excellent service. Their three-night package costs $940-$1100, including meals, air transport from San José to Palmar, or boat from Sierpe to the lodge and trips to Corcovado and Caño Island.
