Green House Hostel does not have the amenities of some of the fancier hostels, but it makes up for it with the helpfulness of its friendly Tica owners.


Most rooms look onto large central space with sitting areas and games.

Located near the sports complex at Plaza Viquez, it is convenient to the MUSOC bus station. The nearby Restaurante Meylin, open 24 hours a day, has good, cheap food, and you can watch nattily dressed mariachis hang around, waiting for gigs.

The Green House is a bit of a roundabout to get to, on Calle 11 between Avenidas 16 and 18. Don’t confuse taxi drivers by calling it “La Casa Verde” because there is a hotel by that name in Barrio Amón. Tell taxi drivers “Del restaurante Meylin, cincuenta al norte.”
