Worth the bumpy drive. Bungalows decorated with a relaxed grace feature antique Indonesian canopy beds that are draped with filmy mosquito nets, giving them a medieval air. Folding wooden doors lead to beach-front stone terraces. Bamboo curtains roll down to block the sun and wind if needed. The outside is invited in, yet you are sheltered in a lovely way. Even the bathrooms are open to the sky, with lush tropical gardens inside. Tide pools in front are safe for kids at low tide. Milarepa’s Restaurante Soma features cuisine from the south of France, with meals served at a leisurely pace and topped off by excellent coffee and homemade desserts.
