A gorgeous setting, consists of peaceful “jungalows” and comfortable suites set in a forested preserve on the second beach to the north (a 10-minute walk from downtown). A truck will transport you and your luggage from El Sano Banano to the Ylang Ylang. Because of the walk, these cabins are not the best for little children, but older kids are welcome. Be sure to get there by 4 p.m. so you can check in and do your first beach walk before dark. There is a lovely swimming pool with a waterfall that massages your shoulders, daily yoga classes ($10) and lush gardens full of flowers and monkeys. Their Ylang Ylang Restaurant serves candlelit dinners made of the freshest ingredients, and their VuJadé Bar completes the natural romantic atmosphere. Both El Sano Banano and Ylang Ylang donate a dollar a day per guest to ASEPALECO’s conservation efforts. Recommended.
