A three-story building diagonally across from the Banco Nacional, is the best of the low-cost options in the crowded, funky downtown area of Puntarenas. It’s clean and well-run, with secure parking, a refrigerator for guests, and laundry service. Try to get an inside room. It’s a couple of blocks from the municipal market and passenger ferry dock—convenient for the early-morning passenger boat to the Montezuma area.
