Off the main road, in Santa Eulalia de Atenas, is the comfortable El Cafetal Inn its owners, an English-speaking Colombian-Salvadoran couple, are helpful and warm hosts. All rooms have expansive views of the Central Valley. Guests can walk to a nearby river, or pick coffee from October through February. If you are coming from the airport on the Interamerican Highway, take the Grecia exit. After less than a mile, take the first left, which will take you underneath a bridge on the Interamerican. Follow the winding road for three miles. El Cafetal will be on the right. If you are arriving late, it’s best to take a taxi there ($25).
