Offers lodging in a series of either stone faced, log, or wood cabins, each with different views.

Buena Vista has a thrilling 1300-foot waterslide in the forest, ending in a swimming tank (minimum age 7).

At the Buena Vista Spa, 2 kilometers from the main lodge, there are three thermal pools of differing temperatures to soak in, and a Turkish bath where the steam comes from naturally boiling water. The steam opens your pores to enhance the effect of the warm mud that you then apply to your skin. You relax in the sunshine until the mud dries, then you wash it off and feel like new. You can hike there, ride on spirited horses, or take a very bumpy ride in a large cart with padded seats attached to a tractor. It’s downhill going and uphill coming back. If you do visit the spa, you’re going to be too relaxed to hike up again. Better to take the bumpy tractor ride.

Their “mega” tour (adults $80, children $60) includes the canopy, the waterslide, a visit to the spa, and lunch.

Buena Vista’s one-hour, ten-cable canopy tour (2690-1414; $35; minimum age 5) is in secondary forest that is quite dry in the high season. They also have a series of 17 hanging bridges for bird and wildlife watchers in their 1000-acre forest reserve. They offer a guided night hike on the bridges to see nocturnal animals and insects. You can learn a lot about snakes in their serpentarium, or see crocodiles in their lagoon.

Most of the food served in their restaurants is raised right there.
