Arenal National ParkCastillo, Costa Rica
Text©Beatrice Blake-New Key to Costa Rica The guard station (open daily, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) is two kilometers down a bumpy dirt road. If you pay the entrance fee ($10/person), you can visit their four-kilometer “Los Tucanes” trail, which leads through the area devastated by the 1968 eruption. Visits can only be made with an experienced, certified guide and in groups no greater than ten people at a time. In our opinion, you don’t gain anything by being on the volcano. It is more interesting to observe from a distance. A taxi from La Fortuna to the park costs about $12. Amenities & Features![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
