You are strapped into a harness, then you take a short hike through gorgeous forest and climb up to the first platform. Your harness is then attached to a pulley system on a steel cable, and you jump off the platform and zoom among the treetops to another platform. There you climb a tower to another platform and zoom off again. After a few more zooms you rappel down the last tree. Our seven-year-old was afraid to cross the first time, so a guide went across with her; the next crossings she did by herself. The kids loved this trip but our older male researchers found the harnesses uncomfortable. They recommend this trip for the beautiful cloud forest, not for the adrenaline rush. The Canopy Tour office is in Santa Elena across from Super La Esperanza. They provide transportation to the Cloud Forest Lodge, where the tour takes place.
