Located nine kilometers from Santa Elena near the entrance of the Santa Elena Reserve, houses the Jewels of the Rainforest exhibit ($10 for an hour’s tour), a vast collection of moths, butterflies, beetles, and other insects. The iridescent creatures are displayed in geometric patterns, or arranged on velvet to highlight their jewel-like colors. There you can learn about insect camouflage, mimicry, parasitism, prey–predator relationships, and other tropical biology topics. They also have a butterfly and hummingbird gardens, a reptile and amphibian exhibit, canopy tour ziplines, a series of hanging bridges and a restaurant. Transportation included for packages over $10 (open daily, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
