The Atlas pages fit together into a book after they are printed. If you follow the instructions for two sided printing (can be done on any printer), facing pages (e.g. 2 & 3) will show about 1/5 of the coutry when you open the book. There is approximately 15 km of overlap between maps in each direction to minimize page flipping.

The page labeled Overview to the right is shown larger above with a zoom view of a small section near Volcán Poás. The map sections (pages 2-11) are even higher resolution, but as stated above, the best way to see the real resolution is to—

This is a small section of an actual scan (hpscanjet 5400c) of an Atlas page printed on an inkjet printer. It will give you an idea of the worst possible printed resolution (remember, this has been printed, scanned, compressed PNG8 to fit on the web, and interpreted by your browser), but as stated above, the best way to see the resolution you will achive with your printer is to open and then print—
